Overview

The Supply Chain Operations Manager-Bakery oversees and optimizes the end-to-end process from material receiving through order fulfillment. Accountabilities of this role include inventory management, production scheduling, material consumption, storage, shipping, reporting processes and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain management, Operations Management, or related field with 2+ years in a Production and/or Logistics Supervisor Role OR:
• 5+ years in a Food Manufacturing Production, Supply Chain, or Logistics Manager role; Industrial Bakery experience preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to manage and motivate teams.
• Proficiency in warehouse management systems (WMS) and other relevant software; Fishbowl experience preferred.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Strong leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team.
• Strong detail orientation and strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and address operational issues.
• Proficient in data analysis, to monitor, track and report key performance metrics.
• Excellent verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively at all levels of the organization and with cross-functional teams.

 

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements

WORKING CONDITIONS:
This position works in an industrial bakery and food manufacturing environment and requires the ability to adhere to all GMP, Food Safety, workplace safety and security policies including wearing required personal protective equipment, as well hair net, beard net, gloves, etc. as required.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Ability to wear required safety and GMP protective equipment.
• Ability to operate a forklift and other industrial equipment.
• Frequent bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, pushing and pulling of products and materials, walking and standing for 8 hours a day.
• Ability to lift or with other means for movement of finished goods and materials with infrequent lifting up to 50+ lbs.
• Ability to utilize office equipment, i.e. computer, printers, phones
• Must have communicable range of hearing and sight with or without the use of aids.
• Requires exposure to a typical manufacturing area where temperature may be affected by outside temperatures and machining.

 

Responsibilities

• Production Planning and Scheduling:
• Work collaboratively with Production and Supply Change Managers and staff to develop and execute detailed production schedules based on demand forecasts and inventory levels.
• Allocate resources effectively to optimize production flow and minimize downtime.
• Monitor production progress against schedules and identify potential bottlenecks.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the timely delivery of raw materials and finished goods.
• Logistics and Inventory Management:
• Manage inbound and outbound logistics operations, including receiving, storing, and shipping of goods.
• Coordinate with Logistics Manager on transportation needs to ensure timely deliveries and cost-effective shipping methods to Ayer
• Monitor inventory levels and implement inventory control strategies to minimize stockouts and excess inventory.
• Oversee warehouse operations, including order fulfillment, picking, packing, and labeling.
• Staff Supervision:
• Acts as a back-up to production manager.
• Assist with leading and motivating a team of warehouse personnel, including assigning tasks, providing training, and performance evaluations.
• Address employee concerns and resolve workplace issues promptly.
• Foster a culture of safety and quality within the Bakery operations team.
• Quality Control:
• Implements and maintains quality standards throughout the entire end-to-end process.
• Collaborate with Quality staff to analyze quality data to identify improvement opportunities and implement corrective actions.
• Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
• Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as production output, MSA, scrap, yields, delivery times, and inventory accuracy and levels.
• Generate detailed reports on operational performance to identify areas for improvement.
• Analyze data to identify trends and implement necessary adjustments to optimize material usage, inventory accuracy, waste, and flows.
• Continuous Improvement:
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance productivity and reduce costs.
• Stay updated on industry trends and technologies to explore potential automation or optimization opportunities.
• Collaborate with other departments to identify and implement cross-functional improvements.

Salary Range

105,000-132,000 plus 15% Bonus Potential
